Easy Chocolate Lava Cakes are so deceptively simple to make. They’re an elegant, but not fussy dessert that will really impress!
If your kids are anything like mine, when they see a Chocolate Lava cake on a dessert menu, it’s a given they will order it. I mean, not that I’m complaining…I love me a good chocolate lava cake. Sometimes they even give me a bite. Sometimes.
But here’s the thing I recently learned. Lava cakes are crazy easy to make. Like one bowl, a microwave, and some oven time and you’re set. My kids have actually learned ow to make them at home. Themselves. It’s a major parenting win.
You really only need a few things, that you most likely have in your pantry right now.
Some chocolate and butter…
And here’s the deal, you can 100% use fancy chopped chocolate. The better quality chocolate you use, well, you get it. BUT I have found that using regular old chocolate chips works just as well. I’m not a chocolate snob.
Melt those together in the microwave…
Then add in some powdered sugar…
And then some salt, vanilla, eggs, egg YOLKS, and flour. Mix it up and divide it between 4 ramekins.
Bake them until the edges are set, but the centers are loose, then flip them out onto a plate and DIG IN!
And don’t forget the ice cream and chocolate sauce. I’d say they’re optional, but I’d be lying.
